By committing to and signing partner pledges, attending dementia-specific training, and completing required criteria, Devoted is thrilled to announce that we have achieved the Dementia Friendly status!
A dementia-friendly partner is one in which management and employees can recognize the signs and/or behaviors of dementia in individuals. Devoted can communicate effectively and be sensitive to individuals with dementia, connect individuals to dementia-specific resources, and support caregivers/employees. A dementia-friendly partner provides a place that is supportive, prepared, and knowledgeable for people with dementia and their caregivers to visit. Businesses, first responders, healthcare providers, local government offices, organizations, faith-based and community members can earn the distinction of being a DFCC Community Partner by accomplishing the items mentioned above.
Dementia Friendly Corpus Christi (DFCC), is a community-wide grassroots initiative led by the DFCC advocacy team in collaboration with the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Coastal Bend which has come together to address the need for an inclusive community that supports families touched by dementia.
The mission of Dementia Friendly Corpus Christi is to engage with community partners to educate and empower different sectors of our community with information needed to enhance the dignity of persons living with dementia. We aim to reduce social stigma and isolation. We provide educational and support services to persons diagnosed with dementia, their families, and caregivers. Every part of the community plays a role in creating a dementia-friendly culture.
